Kentucky State Police say five of the six people killed in a crash on Interstate 65 were from Indiana.

Police say Robert Hogan, 77, Jonell Boster, 48, Lonnie Boster, 59, Carl Boster, 17, and Lonnie D. Boster, 30, all from Beech Grove died in the crash.

William Sowell, 58, of Milan, Tennessee was traveling northbound on I-65 operating a 2014 Volvo semi tractor trailer. Another northbound commercial vehicle failed to stop and struck the last auto in line triggering the chain reaction.

Trooper Jeremy Hodges said one tractor-trailer and both passenger vehicles were stationary when the other tractor-trailer hit one of the passenger vehicles, causing a chain-reaction crash. An involved commercial vehicle was stopped in traffic, in the right lane of I-65, with two passenger vehicles stopped immediately behind it. They are working to notify family members.

Hodges said the names of the dead haven't been released, and two haven't been identified. Traffic was backed up due to the construction.

Six people died after a four-vehicle wreck on Interstate 65 Thursday evening, according to a Kentucky State Police press release Friday morning. The collision involves two passenger vehicles and two commercial vehicles. All northbound interstate traffic is being diverted onto U.S. 31W, near mile marker 28.

Hodges said the northbound lanes in that area may have to be shut down temporarily. No further details are available for release at this time, with updates to follow.
