The 70-year-old already had two parole hearings denied in 2013 and 2014.

In 2013, Simpson was granted parole on a few of the 12 original charges, but the man was required to serve an additional four years for some his weapons-related convictions, including assault with a deadly weapon.

Simpson was sentenced in December 2008 to 33 years in prison with a minimum of nine years before he would be eligible for parole. According to sources, OJ is anxious about the media's presence during his hearing because it might persuade the parole board to deny his release.

It saw him and a string of accomplices break into a room at gunpoint and steal various O.J. Simpson collectibles from dealers Bruce Fromong and Alfred Beardsley.

Simpson was acquitted in that case.

Simpson is now incarcerated at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada.

Members will meet Thursday to discuss whether Simpson should be released from prison October 1st. Scotto and Simpson have known each other for years.

Simpson's attorney in Las Vegas, Malcolm LaVergne, said he will be with his client at the medium-security prison. While the parole board generally takes several weeks to render a decision, the Simpson matter will be determined on Thursday to minimize media disruption.

Simpson will have the opportunity to speak directly to the parole board on July 20, and try to convince them that he should be released.

"I don't want to offer an opinion", said Caldwell.

Ron Goldman. He was found liable during a 1997 civil case for the killings, but his prison time is for the Las Vegas robbery, not for the murders. The deliberations will not be public and the parole board will not be available for interviews after the hearing. "He's done a lot of good for a lot of people", said Tom Scotto, a friend of Simpson.

According to experts, parole seems likely for Simpon, who is being held for his role in a 2008 attempted armed robbery to lift sports memorabilia.
