Aaron Donald Reports To Rams

LA Rams Run Over Colts in Season Opener Aaron Donald ends holdout, reports to Rams without new deal

It's pretty sad when the biggest storyline in a game is more about someone not playing than any potential replacements or other big names playing in the game, and that's unfortunately what we have here for this battle between the Indianapolis Colts and the Los Angeles Rams.

The late arrival means that Donald will not be on the field when the Rams begin the season Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Donald has not received a new contract, but the two sides will keep working toward one, the source told Schefter. Coach Sean McVay ruled him out for the opener Friday. The Rams agreed that Donald deserved a pay raise after just three standout seasons, and they held months of civil negotiations with the star's representatives. The exemption would allow Donald to be paid while not forcing the Rams to cut someone else to get down to 53 players.

Donald is scheduled to make $1.8 million this year and $6.9 million in 2018 under the terms of his rookie deal. "But in the meantime we've got to get ready to play a football game and we know the Colts are getting ready as well". He was the 13th overall pick in the 2014 #NFL Draft and is one of the best defensive players in the league.

It is doubtful if he will even play in the next couple of weeks. They can include him on the 53-man roster - he's now on the did not report list - or they can ask for a roster exemption, similar to the one the Steelers got with Le'Veon Bell.
