Hillary Blames Women's March for Loss Too

Names and faces Hillary Clinton says she'll never run for office again, could have done 'better job' handling America's anger

In a CBS Sunday Morning interview with anchor Jane Pauley (Clinton taped the segment Friday at her NY home), Clinton looked back at the past 10 months and shared some inside perspective of the campaign against Donald Trump.

Clinton said she quelled what she termed her "painful" loss to Donald Trump with "long walks in the woods" and "my share of Chardonnay".

Interviewer Jane Pauley asked her: "What you're saying is millions of white people?".

CLINTON: Millions of white people.

"Millions of white people, yeah".

And Comey's late October announcement that the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which he still headed at the time, had re-opened its inquiry into her treatment of classified information as secretary of state is blamed by many Clinton supporters for her defeat.

"Most important of the mistakes I made was using personal email", Clinton said.

CLINTON: I started the campaign knowing that I was going to have to work extra hard to make women and men feel comfortable with the idea of a woman president.

"I am done with being a candidate".

One of Pauley's toughest questions for Clinton wasn't about her e-mail server or the pain Wall Street speeches.

"I just kind of went in the bedroom, laid down on the bed, just thought 'Ok, I just have to wait this out, '" she said.

Clinton expressed some regrets, including what she described as a failure to appeal to the outrage of the American worker.

"President Trump was behaving in a deplorable manner", she said, citing the "Access Hollywood" tape as an example.

'I was godsmacked, wiped out, ' she said.

Ms Clinton said she believed Mr Trump had tapped into a "nostalgia" felt by his supporters. But there was one person who could help her cope: Bill. She will appear on ABC's The View this Wednesday, and CBS' The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on September 19, followed by an interview with Trevor Noah on The Daily Show November 1.

The former Democratic nominee took responsibility, and pointed fingers too, over the course of the interview, but to this day believes the "basket of deplorables" comment she made about Trump supporters wasn't so bad.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Clinton saved her most vehement invective for opponent Bernie Sanders, an Independent Senator from Vermont, whom she defeated in the 2016 Democratic Primary.
