The Disaster Artist will open in theaters on December 1. However, his legacy lives on as James Franco now has potential for award nominations by portraying Wiseau in The Disaster Artist.

More than a decade after The Room first hit cinemas, the story behind the cult-favorite's creation is about to be shown to general audiences around the world through a film that was directed by its star, James Franco.

The film received rave reviews at SXSW and the Toronto Film Festival, while it has also inexplicably becoming part of the Oscar conversation.

In 2013, Greg Sestero co-wrote The Disaster Artist, a book about the experience of making The Room, and it is the most wonderful piece of literature ever written. You loved movies. You didn't live tweet films, or watch bad movies ironically, or EVER forget to keep your Letterboxd account up to date. Franco's Tommy repeatedly insists that "Acting is truth", and in the post-screening Q&A, the real Sestero described the movie as "terrifyingly true".

The Disaster Artist is about that ownership and how the path there came from the friendship between Wiseau and Sestero.

Rounding out the cast is Dave Franco, Seth Rogen, Josh Hutcherson, Zac Efron, Hannibal Buress, Alison Brie, Dylan Minette, and Judd Apatow, to name a few. You'll have'ta look twice to tell Wiseau and Franco apart.

The Room, as you're probably well aware by now, falls into that pantheon of movies-so-bad-that-they're-good.
