Tottenham confirm Janssen departure to Fenerbahce on loan Late Tottenham transfer confirmed, player sends message to Spurs fans

The 23-year-old forward joined for £18.5 million from AZ Alkmaar, where he scored 27 Eredivisie goals in 34 appearances and won the Dutch "Talent of the Year" award.

Janssen is due to arrive in Istanbul on Friday afternoon when he'll go through the mandatory medicals before he signs a deal with the Turkish powerhouse.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino insisted on Thursday that Janssen had a future with the club.

In his presser before Saturday's match away at Everton, Pochettino said that Janssen remains in his plans.

Spurs's signing of Fernando Llorente was expected to see Janssen get even less opportunities under Pochettino this season, but still chose to reject a Deadline Day move to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Tottenham could well hand a debut to Llorente on Saturday as they travel to face Everton at Goodison Park, with a mouthwatering Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund also set to take place in midweek. That is about numbers. But in January we check again to see if we change the names in the squad.

Many of the Tottenham supporters have likened Janssen to another big-money flop, Roberto Soldado - and ironically the Spaniard could well be the Dutchman's new strike partner at Fenerbahce.
