Tebas accuses City, PSG of ruining game

La Liga president accuses PSG Man City of ‘financial doping Neymar, PSG and Manchester City accused of 'peeing in the swimming pool' by La Liga president Javier Tebas

Qatari-owned French side Paris Saint-Germain are "laughing" at the financial fair play (FPP) system, a combative Javier Tebas, president of Spain's La Liga, said on Wednesday.

And City responded strongly to accusations from Tebas regarding the bankrolling of the club by owner Sheikh Mansour, of Abu Dhabi's ruling family. "These past few years Manchester City have paid out almost £1bn on players, PSG £950m".

Girona were accused of trying to "cook the books" over five loan players sent there by City this summer by the La Liga chief.

In response to Mr Tebas' comments, the CFG said on Wednesday evening: "Mr Tebas' statements are ill-informed and in parts pure fiction".

Tebas remains adamant that Uefa need to investigate PSG for Financial Fair Play (FFP) reasons, and admits he believes the French giants could in the future use their considerable wealth to snap up even bigger names.

Manchester City also spent heavily in the last transfer window, lavishing an estimated £221 million (242 million euros, $288 million) on players although they offloaded several too.

Over the course of the summer, Girona signed five City players on loan - Douglas Luiz, Marlos Moreno, Larry Kayode, Aleix Garcia and Pablo Maffeo.

"Half of the squad left for global duty and they called up reserve players to fill up the group, which is amusing", Bertrand said.

In a press conference in Manchester, Tebas accused City and Paris Saint-Germain -clubs with owners from Uniter Arab Emirates and Qatar- of "financial doping", and of "taking advantage of oil money to get ahead of the rest of teams".

The City Football Group (CFG) added: "As you would expect, Manchester City Football Club and the City Football Group are seeking appropriate legal counsel and will act accordingly on that advice".

"We note the public comments made by Mr Tebas today and earlier this week", read the statement.

'These unworthy remarks are unbefitting an institution as respectable and successful as the Spanish league. They are not financial doping.

"When contracts are not reflecting real market incomes - as in money not derived directly from football - then we take action".
