Nadal eases to China Open title

'I think I've found my purpose' - Nick Kyrgios reveals charity aim inspired by cancer victim Nadal eases to China Open title

This was Nadal's second China Open title in four trips to the final.

The Australian, who displayed his best in dumping out 20-year-old rising star Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals, said Nadal had "destroyed" him and admitted he had failed to react professionally. "After that I think I played one of the best events of the year, playing very solid the whole event, playing against very tough opponents", Nadal continued. Nadal dug in and improbably reeled off nine straight games to lead 6-2, 5-0 before Kyrgios tallied a moral victory by preventing the first 0-6 set of his ATP career.

The mercurial Kyrgios is known as much for his volatile temper as his prodigious talent.

But Kyrgios appeared put out by a line call that went against him in the first game and Nadal was in no mood to hand out favours as he cruised to a 6-2 6-1 victory.

Kyrgios was back in the spotlight after he capitulated 6-2, 6-1 to the Spanish world number one in Beijing on Sunday, during which he swore, argued with the umpire and was docked a point.

9am: So we are expecting Nadal and Dimitrov on court no earlier than 9.30am but we could start later than that - especially if French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko digs her heels in.

The second set was even more competitive and the attritional seventh game turned out to be a turning point.

In the second-set tiebreaker, the unseeded Garcia jumped out to 4-1, and on a first match point at 6-3 with Halep serving, the Romanian netted a forehand.

"It was such an fantastic two weeks", Garcia said.

The duo raced into the tie break, but Garcia now had the momentum and she held her nerve to make it a Wuhan-Beijing double. First thing, the tournament is bigger than 2005.

Nadal, victor of the French Open and U.S. Open titles this year, has won six tournaments in a season for the first time since 2013 and strengthens his position at the top of the rankings ahead of Roger Federer.
