Allardyce closed to being signed as Everton's manager

Sam Allardyce Cottee: Everton will beat West Ham if they do one thing
Elias Hubbard | 29 November, 2017, 01:10

Sam Allardyce is expected to be in charge sooner rather than later, the former England manager in negotiations to iron out the differences that forced his earlier withdrawal from the process.

Meanwhile, Everton have continued to struggle, with Unsworth winning one of his seven games in charge and seeing them thrashed 5-1 at home by Atalanta in the Europa League before Sunday's 4-1 hiding at Southampton.

However, following continued losses, Everton are likely to be keen to replace caretaker manager David Unsworth, who stepped in following the sacking of Ronald Koeman in October.

However, after owner Farhad Moshiri failed to land Marco Silva from Watford, the Merseysiders - without a manager since firing Ronald Koeman five weeks ago - had little option but to return to Allardyce.

The 63-year-old said he was planning on retiring in the summer when he resigned his post at Crystal Palace but he admitted he could be tempted back into management when the Everton job became available.

It is believed Allardyce was looking for a three-year deal to take charge, but Everton are said to have agreed a compromise two-year deal, which will see him awarded a large bonus if he keeps Everton in the Premier League.

He has lifted Everton to 16th, collecting four points from his four league matches. Now leading Ukraine's top tier, they host Manchester City next week requiring one point to guarantee a place in the last 16 of the Champions League.

"When confidence is low, it takes a bit of time to build that back up". That's why they have gone to Sam because they are conceding goals. He would utilise him to the best of his ability because he is someone he will respect.

Regarding Allardyce's candidacy, Unsworth added: "Sam is a top manager but it would be wrong for me to talk of individuals". Allardyce reportedly caught wind that, despite the Toffees' overtures, the club's hierarchy were really interested in Watford boss Marco Silva. It will be "you do what I tell you". And I make that very clear to the players. "It's as simple as that".

If Sam gets the job he will load that team with experienced players - with his big hitters.
