He said he would not have banned the LeT group if he had known more about Saeed.
"Because I have always been in favour of action in Kashmir and I have always been in favour of pressuring the Indian Army in Kashmir".
Musharraf's comments came days after Saeed walked free following Pakistan government's decision against detaining him further. The office of the ombudsperson of the Security Council's 1267 Committee says there is one case pending with the committee, besides that of Hafiz Saeed.
He also said that the America has asked for Hafiz Saeed's re-arrest only because of pressure from India and he would continue to fight for the liberation of Kashmir.
In an interview to Pakistani TV channel ARY News, Musharraf, who is now in exile in Dubai, said: "I am the biggest supporter of LeT and I know they like me and JuD (Jamaat-ud-Dawa) also likes me".
Pakistan's former president General Pervez Musharraf has said he has always been in favour of "action" in Kashmir and Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) is "our biggest force to suppress Indian Army" in the region.
The JuD is believed to be the front organisation for the banned LeT which is responsible for carrying out the Mumbai terror attack in 2008. "They (LeT) are the biggest force, India got them declared as terrorists by partnering with U.S.".
"I like Hafiz Saeed a lot and support his outfit JuD, " Pervez Musharraf said.
In the interview, Musharraf also claimed his liking for the LeT founder Hafiz Saeed, who has a $10 million United States bounty on his head.
The US has sought immediate re-arrest of Saeed, warning Islamabad that there would be repercussions for bilateral ties if it fails to act. The US had asked Pakistan to rearrest Saeed, who has been designated a terrorist by the US Justice Department. "Saeed was the mastermind behind the Mumbai attack that killed hundreds, including 6 Americans".
Saeed, the co-founder of LeT and Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) chief, was freed by the Lahore High Court (LHC) after 297 days of house arrest. "Pakistan has not changed its policy of shielding and supporting non-state actors and its true face is visible for all to see", MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in New Delhi.
