Why Jay Ajayi? Reports saying Dolphins were not happy

Jay Ajayi Jay Ajayi traded from Dolphins to Eagles, giving Philadelphia RB depth

- Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams have combined for just 22 carries this season, but they'll be asked to shoulder the load in Ajayi's absence.

Blockbuster: The #Dolphins are trading RB Jay Ajayi to the #Eagles. The Eagles saw him in the summer during the joint practices with the Dolphins and had to be impressed with Ajayi's hard-charging style between the tackles, his quick feet, and his ability to change direction.

Ajayi has been dealing with a sore knee all season but played in Thursday's 40-0 loss to the Baltimore Ravens after being limited in practice all week.

Dolphins head coach Adam Gase had also expressed frustration with the offense in recent weeks, calling out his players earlier this month and threatening to replace them if they can not get the job done. And when Gase said earlier that if players don't want to be here they won't be, I think we saw one player that didn't want to be here.

The Eagles offense has been decent with their running back committee, but clearly, it wasn't enough.

The Dolphins drafted Ajayi in the fifth round in 2015.

Landry, 24, is the Dolphins top receiver and owns 50 receptions for 398 yards and three touchdowns this season. He ranked fourth in the National Football League in rushing and was seventh in yards per carry (4.9 yards) to go along with eight touchdowns.

The Eagles, who have won an NFL-best six in a row, gave up a fourth-round selection in next spring's draft for Ajayi, who made the Pro Bowl past year by rushing for 1,272 yards, fourth-best in the league.
