Reed said Tuesday that Conyers likely will call the radio show because his client shouldn't "risk his health" by traveling outside in the cold weather.

Conyers' attorney, Arnold Reed, said Friday the congressman will decide in the next few days whether to resign, stay in office through the end of his term, or seek re-election next year.

Conyers also endorsed his son, John Conyers III, to replace him in office.

Conyers, the longest-serving member of the House of Representatives, faced calls from Capitol Hill for him to step aside in the wake of multiple allegations of sexual harassment.

Gaddis also asked Conyers whether he believes the allegations that have been made against him will impact his legacy.

Two women have come forward in recent weeks to say Conyers abused or harassed them when they worked for him.

Elisa Grubbs made the allegation in an affidavit released late Monday by her attorney, Lisa Bloom.

He served as ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, but resigned his post after the allegations surfaced.

"My legacy can't be compromised or diminished in any way by what we're going through now".

John Conyers returned to Detroit from Washington last week and was hospitalized on Wednesday after complaining that he felt light-headed.

"It was sexual harassment, violating my body, propositioning me, inviting me to hotels with the guise of discussing business and then propositioning me for sex", Brown told NBC. Moore has been accused of sexual misconduct by nine women, several of whom were teenagers at the time, and one of whom was just 14.

Conyers is expected to make the announcement on a local radio show, the New York Times reported citing a relative. The report didn't specify how Ian Conyers knew of the congressman's plans.

They said the congressman is entitled to due process.

But Conyers, who took his MI seat in 1965 and was a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus, insisted that his record would not be tarnished by the accusations.

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee took to the House floor to read a letter by Conyers to his colleagues, saying he notified the Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan and Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi that he was vacating his seat.

Conyers has denied the allegations of sexual misconduct.

Conyers, who was first elected in 1964 and went on to become a founding member in 1971 of the Congressional Black Caucus, easily won re-election past year to his 27th term in the heavily Democratic district. Al Franken (D-MN). Last week, Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-TX) was also publicly named as the first sitting member of Congress known to have used a little-known Congressional account to settle an $84,000 sexual harassment claim brought by his former communications director in 2015.
