According to reports and sources, San Francisco's package of prospects who could be involved in a deal for Stanton include outfielder/first baseman Chris Shaw, right-hander Tyler Beede and outfielder Heliot Ramos.

ESPN's Buster Olney reported Stanton met personally with Giants executives on Friday.

Jon Morosi of MLB.com reported earlier in the day that the Marlins had agreed to the general framework of trades with both clubs, but everything is on hold while the Marlins wait for Stanton to inform them whether he would even accept a deal to either team.

Stanton has 10 years and $295 million left on his contract, which includes an opt-out following the 2020 season.

Stanton has a no-trade clause and must approve any trade he is a part of. As such, Stanton could indeed take as long as he pleases if he'd prefer to go to a team other than the two in play.

But for luxury tax reasons, the Dodgers are unable to dive completely into trade talks with the Marlins this winter.

The Giants have many holes to fill including the outfield, third base and the bullpen as they try to bounce back from an embarrassing 98-loss season.

The Giants had the majors' fewest home runs, and Stanton led the majors with 59 and won the NL MVP award.

The Marlins also want to move Dee Gordon, who's owed $38 million through 2020, and the second baseman would be a nice fit for the Giants, who lack speed. The Dodgers have not been beating down the door for Stanton. Morosi said the Marlins and Dodgers have remained in touch about the slugger, but there was been "no substantial progress".
