"I've been very gratified by the response that I've gotten from so many people", he said.

He added: "I think all of this is an important step to dismantle the machinery that allowed this sort of thing to continue".

Netflix has announced that its hit show "House of Cards" will be returning for its sixth and final season without star Kevin Spacey, THR reports.

House of Cards was Netflix's first original series.

House of Cards was shooting its sixth season when actor Anthony Rapp said in an interview that Spacey made unwanted sexual advances toward him when Rapp was just 14.

Spacey was also replaced by Christopher Plummer in Ridley Scott's drama All the Money in the World, leading to last-minute reshoots before the film's release on 22 December. In the second half of his post, Spacey wrote, "I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man".

The filming of the series shut down in November, and given that most of the script was written prior to the allegations against Spacey coming out, it'll be interesting to see what they do with it from here. We now know, via The Hollywood Reporter, that the final season will not only star Wright and write out Spacey in a odd case of life imitating art, but that the sixth season will be a slim eight episodes, with production set to start in early 2018.

It's also rumoured Netflix is keen to launch a House of Cards spin-off to extend the franchise of their flagship show.

"It was important to me that the ripple effects of everything that's gone on don't negatively affect too many people", Rapp said to the entertainment news outlet.
