National Football League owner to sell team amid harassment and misconduct allegations

Jerome Frank | 21 December, 2017, 01:12

The Panthers won't be sold until after the football season, Richardson said Sunday, as the only owner the franchise has ever known is jumping ship during an NFL investigation into his behavior.

The Panthers said on Friday that law firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart and Sullivan would lead the internal investigation, and that former White House chief of staff Erskine Bowles, a minority team owner, would oversee it.

The 81-year-old, who is a former National Football League player, has been a majority owner of the Charlotte-based team since it began playing in the National Football League as an expansion franchise in 1995.

Combs posted a video on social media to say he wants to be the first "African-American majority owner in the NFL". He added that the team will neither begin the sale process nor entertain any inquiries until "the very last game is played".

Sports Illustrated reported that investigators would be looking into allegations of sexual harassment - as well as the reported use of a racial slur - brought against Richardson.

Jerry Richardson plans to sell the Carolina Panthers And already one celebrity with Charlotte ties is expressing interest in joining Diddy.

Richardson, a former receiver for the Baltimore Colts, received a heart transplant in 2009 that saved his life. "We have work to do to achieve this goal, but we are going to meet it".

Curry grew up in Charlotte and loves the Panthers, so this would be a big deal for him. He once was regarded as a leading power broker among owners but has had a lower profile in recent years, perhaps in part due to health issues.

Sunday evening, the rap star jumped to his Twitter account to announce his interest in becoming an National Football League owner.

If team officials are implicated as facilitating or failing to stop Richardson's alleged misconduct, Goodell could punish those officials.

"Did you step into those jeans or did you have to jump into them?"

The Panthers' original announcement raised questions about the independence of an investigation conducted by one of the team's owners.
