In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed on Friday to mark the fifth martyrdom anniversary of Kashmiri leader, Muhammad Afzal Guru. The shutdown has been called in by the separatist leaders Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik of Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL). Meanwhile, most shops and offices remained shut, as separatists had called for a strike. He was arrested on Wednesday.

Police also raided residence of Dukhtarn-e-Millat chairperson Asiya Andrabi. The JKLF will also pass a memorandum in every mosque across Kashmir demanding the mortal remains of Guru and Bhat.

A group of JKLF activists took out a protest rally at Abi Guzar area and staged a protest.

They said Afzal Guru and Maqbool Butt laid down their lives for the cause of freedom and they provided the Kashmiris a lesson not to surrender before oppression.
