Meaning, instead of pressuring engineers to meet the deadline, "Apple will start focusing on the next two years of updates for its iPhone and iPad operating system", Bloomberg said citing people familiar with the change.

Apple is planning on bringing Animojis and a new tabs feature to the iPad with the release of iOS 12, according to Bloomberg. Hopefully they will be able to spread out its feature updates into steady point releases to allow adequate time for testing in order to prevent the same fallout experienced during the iOS 11 release.

iOS 12 will be run according to these new plans, but that doesn't mean the OS won't include new features. Federighi's team will have more time to develop new features and work on under-the-hood improvements without being forced to follow a checklist of features so Apple could herald massive year-over-year leaps in terms of software. Quite the opposite - the update will reportedly launch with a "universal app system" that should allow apps to work on all Apple devices (iPhones, iPads and Macs), a "revamped stock-trading app", Animoji support within FaceTime and an updated search view that "leans more heavily on Siri", Ars Technica says.

But several other features that were initially cooked up with iOS 12 in mind have been postponed to iOS 13 or later.

According to Bloomberg, however, this is more than just a periodic pause for Apple to catch its metaphorical breath.

When it comes to flashier additions, you can expect more Animojis for the iPhone X. And if the new iPad Pro gets a Face ID camera, Apple is also probably going to bring Animojis to the new iPad Pro.

Apple might be pivoting its focus to stability as far as iOS and macOS updates are concerned.

Apple will reportedly port animoji over to the iPad, and improve the So Not Diatub functionality of the iPhone.

The name of the new iOS 12 will be Peace, and it will modify the function "do Not disturb", as well as home screens on iPhone, iPad and CarPlay - their principle of operation will resemble the desktop in desktop MacOS.

Apple is slowing the pace on iOS updates, with the Cupertino firm allegedly opting to get absolutely right a smaller number of changes in its flagship iPhone software.

Apple's TV app now supports live news, a feature announced in September when company CEO Tim Cook introduced the new Apple TV 4K. The company is looking to balance introduction of new features alongside more efficient bug fixing given the recent spate of issues, especially, with iOS.
