James, the public health major who will be a senior this fall, plans to use her scholarship to help her cover tuition fees next year, take care of some loans as well as to treat her mother.

In addition to surprising James with the check, the Canadian rapper also stopped by the Miami Senior High School to shoot some more of the video with the younger students and donate $25,000 to the institution.

When asked by ABC News if she had a message for Drake, she said, "Thank you".

Drake showed up to present her with the check after reading an essay she submitted to receive a scholarship past year. She received the scholarship but did not expect to get a cash reward from the singer. Plus, he surprised a student at the University of Miami with a check for $50,000.

MIAMI-Drake had no trouble drawing crowds as he visited Miami to shoot a music video.

"God's Plan" broke streaming records on Apple Music, Spotify and The Billboard Charts within days of it's release and went platinum after only 9 days.

No, thank you, Drake.

Meanwhile, Drake recently made headlines for rapping about losing Jennifer Lopez in his song, "Diplomatic Immunity". Both songs are included in Drake's upcoming album Scary Hours. During a recent interview, the producer said that he was surprised by the song's success.

Lotus House President Constance Collins told us the "God's Plan" rapper's donation will "nourish bodies, minds and spirits of homeless women and children who are among the most vulnerable in our community".

"That was a shocker right there because I had sent Drake some beats, he needed beats earlier back in September 2017. He texted me, he was like, 'We got one, '" said Cardo.
