Google is Testing Instagram-like Stories in Search Results

Bringing the power of AMP to Gmail - The Keyword Google brings AMP Stories to Google Search to deliver visually rich content

The overall idea here isn't all that different from the stories format you are probably already familiar with from the likes of Instagram and Snapchat. Perhaps it's time for that meme to make a resurgence, because stories are headed to a new, rather high-profile place: Google's mobile search results. At a later point, Google plans to bring AMP stories to more products across Google, and expand the ways they appear in Google Search. Unlike Facebook's content publishing platform or Apple News, AMP is an open source project that can be used by publishers on any site. The firm hasn't stated whether people can opt out, but it should become clear once Gmail gets support for AMP later this year. Based on a diverse architecture using Javascript, HTML and open source technologies, AMP is created to serve up mobile-optimized content (and ads) with minimal data requirements on mobile networks. Also, per Google documentation, our AMP pages rel=canonical to our non-AMP pages.

It means you can do much more than sending and receiving emails in your Gmail.

At the moment, you can see this new format in action by using this URL on your mobile device, and searching for one of the development partners (e.g., "The Washington Post"). "Creating visual stories on the web with the fast and smooth performance have users have grown accustomed to in native apps can be challenging".

"AMP story content should be fulfilling and standalone".

However, AMP Stories is not a privilege for the industry's giants. If you want to mute that at any time, there should be a small music icon in the top right corner of the interface. Newer, faster chips combined with larget screens allowed for content-rich web pages to be displayed on mobiles, but the internet speed wasn't up to the mark. Specifically, it will help make sure the content is up-to-date and relevant, the post said, but also that users will be able to interact with that content more readily.

Because Google rewards the best real estate in its search results to websites that load quickly, expect to see more publishers adopt AMP Stories in the near future.
