And so, seeing as more than 60 women have now come forward with stories of abuse at the hands of Weinstein of varying levels and degrees of specificity that some victims aren't prepared to share, it was in fact because Weinstein didn't rape her that Hayek felt her story might not be "enough".

Previously, Hayek accused Weinstein of harassing her over the course of five years during the filming of the Oscar-winning film Frida.

"They contacted me to be a part of the first story, The New York Times... already I started crying when they asked, and I ended up not doing it", Hayek said. "I felt ashamed that I was a coward".

"I was on set with Reese Witherspoon, who has since spoken out. and some other actresses, who haven't spoken out, so I won't say who they were, and this was like two days after the Harvey scandal had broken in The New York Times", Winfrey said.

"Throughout the years, I (earned his respect)", she said. "You're reacting the way I have seen molested children act because they think they're the only ones this has happened to".

She said she was even more "ashamed" that she didn't speak up when other women shared their similar experiences with the disgraced movie producer.

Hayek said in conversation with the TV host on Wednesday, that Weinstein told the film's director, Julie Taymor: 'I am going to break the kneecaps of that C-word'.

Witherspoon also spoke to Winfrey recently as part of Super Soul Sunday, where she opened up about leaving an abusive relationship.

"I wish that I could tell you that was an isolated incident in my career, but sadly it wasn't", she continued.

Onstage Wednesday, Hayek said she became "depressed" and "paranoid" after working with Weinstein. "And then when so the women came out".

"I felt like my pain was so small compared with that of others", she said, adding that she had not even told her husband or friends like Penelope Cruz and Robert Rodriguez about the alleged mistreatment. "As in most collaborative projects, there was creative friction on Frida, but it served to drive the project to perfection". He hopes all involved can at least agree that the movie was fantastic.

"By Mr Weinstein's own admission, his boorish behaviour following a screening of "Frida" was prompted by his disappointment in the cut of the movie". However, his conflict was with Julie Taymor not Ms. Hayek. Mr. Weinstein never fought with Ms. Hayek on set and this comment does not reflect how he feels about her; he doesn't recall ever saying such an terrible thing.

Hayek Pinault explained to Winfrey why she had not been part of the Times' initial wave of allegations against Weinstein, and published her essay two months after the story first broke. (It should be pointed out that Weinstein took advantage of her sense of powerlessness by repeatedly telling her that she was a "nobody", which is its own kind of devastating abuse.) But her story is certainly brutal, nonetheless. "He was very proud of her Best Actress Academy Award nomination for 'Frida" and continues to support her work".

Oprah at the Apollo will air on February 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network and will be available via podcast at Oprah's Super Soul Conversations.
