The parent company of the National Enquirer reportedly paid a former doorman at one of President TrumpDonald John TrumpWoman "dabs" as Trump signs sex trafficking bill Graham uses Fox News appearance to ask Trump not to fire Mueller Trump's Syria tweet surprised WH staff working on response to chemical attack: report MORE's buildings $30,000 for a rumor about Trump.

In 2015, Mr. Sajudin, a former Trump Tower doorman, approached the National Enquirer saying he had been told not to criticize a particular maid because of her illicit affair with Mr. Trump and the child that resulted.

"He's infamous for making up stories", Sajudin's ex-wife Nikki Benfatto said to the New York Daily News.

"He always had something to say about people", she said.

Six current and former A.M.I. employees, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they feared legal retaliation by the company, said that Sajudin had told A.M.I. the names of the alleged mistress and child. She is now suing AMI to invalidate her contract, claiming that she was convinced to sign under false pretenses, and that Cohen and AMI worked secretly with Davidson as part of a "broad effort to silence and intimidate" her.

The company has said it paid McDougal, the former Playboy Playmate, to be a columnist for an AMI-published fitness magazine, not to stay silent. The National Enquirer's publisher, American Media, Inc., paid Sajudin for his silence and threatened to sue him $1 million if he came forward with his controversial story or if he told him. "Threats, muscle-flexing, macho nicknames - Trump is finally bringing his background in pro wrestling to our foreign policy", he said, introducing a new WWE star, El Trumpo Loco. Trump has denied he engaged in any affair with McDougal.

Farrow added that with the "doorman" payoff reporting following in the heels of the McDougal and Daniels payoffs, "this establishes a pattern now".

Sajudin is now trying to sell the story, according to Enquirer's sister publication RadarOnline, which also published a few details of the payment and the deal.

He then went to the National Enquirer with the allegations, with the pro-Trump publication subsequently accused of paying him $30,000, only to kill the story. However, Sajudin refused to unless he received an advance payment.

According to reports, federal investigators searched for communications between Cohen, AMI's chief executive, and top editors at the Enquirer during a raid on his office earlier this week.

The Enquirer staffers, like numerous dozens of other current and former AMI employees interviewed by the AP in the past year, spoke on condition of anonymity.

"Paying for information has always been a practice of The National Enquirer and to suggest that it has only paid for, and not run, stories about any particular person is absurd".

Another source told the New Yorker it was "unheard of" for AMI to pay so much for secondhand information.

Major news outlets are running with the story after the New Yorker broke the news. Neither named the woman or the child. "I think they lost their money", she said.

Trump has denied knowing about the Daniels' payment.

She has not returned Inside Edition's calls for comment.
