Next iPhone May Have Touchless Gesture Controls and Curved Screens

Apple reportedly plans iPhones with curved screens and non-touch gesture controls Apple Testing 'Touchless' Gestures for the iPhone

Apple's always been said to be working on new technologies to build into its lineup of iPhones, and today's report out of Bloomberg corroborates these rumors. The said functionalities which have been missing from Apple devices, if implemented, will help the tech giant attract new customers and will provide them with an edge over their competitors. And now, it seems that Apple has taken two uncooked features from Samsung's catalogue and aimed to present it in a presentable way.

Apart from the curved display, Apple is also exploring touch-less gestures for navigation.

The new gesture control allows iPhone users to perform tasks without touching smartphone's screen and this could add another layer of controls on top of Apple's 3D Touch. The Samsung Galaxy S phones have had curved screen sides for years now, though the report states that Apple's curved iPhone display would "curve inward gradually from top to bottom". But Apple's long-lasting distaste for curved displays may be going the way of its hatred of big-screen phones - which was legendary back in the day before the first Plus iPhone launched.

Bloomberg on Wednesday issued a new report that may offer some insights into Apple's plans for the iPhone of the future.

That means users will have to keep their gestures close to the display for it to work. Both these features are said to be in early test and development stages and it may as well be the case that Apple may decide to put this on a halt.

The tech is also different to Apple's existing FaceID camera sensors, which use facial recognition to unlock your iPhone X.

The phone, which, according to Bloomberg, is expected to take at least two years to arrive, will feature a curved display.

Apple has been working on their ARM-based processors now available inside iOS devices, the Apple Watch, and the Apple TV.
